After 5 weeks from arrival Ceto has been commissioned, fitted out and shakedown cruises have been completed. She is now ready for champagne cruises.
After what felt like a long wait the arrival day suddenly was upon us. CETO arrived on the 21st July at the yard and was put onto hard standing the day after. There are now two more weeks of commissioning and some minor upgrades to ensure she meets the requirements for ‘coding’. She is expected to have her mast fitted and enter the water on Friday 29th ready for further fit out and sea trials. Below are some photos as we first saw her at the yard.
The wait is nearly over!
As Ceto nears completion the yard has sent the first photos of her showing the interior space being worked on.
She is due to be completed on the 5th July and following quality assurance inspections is expected to leave factory on the 11th July. Final commissioning will take place in the UK and is expected to be completed by the end of July.
The wait for delivery has given us time to think about the name of our yacht and it has been a subject of many discussions! However after several decisions that were overturned for varying reasons we have finally settled on CETO.
CETO (or Keto) was a marine goddess who personified the dangers of the sea. She was more specifically a goddess of whales, large sharks, and sea-monsters.
Unfortunately we have been informed of a delay to the completion of build #142. This is due to Volvo having delivery issues on their engines adding another 4 weeks to the expected delivery date of the Yacht. We are now expecting delivery to take place at the end of June.
Purely Sailing will be basing our Hanse 455 at Mercury Yacht Harbour. We have chosen this location for its easy transport access and as a perfect place to provide swift access to Southampton Water and the Solent area.
Mercury Yacht Harbour is just a 20 minute walk from Hamble village. Easily accessible by road and major networks Southampton is just 16 minutes away. South West Trains have stopping services between Portsmouth and Southampton which call at Hamble approximately every hour. Regular bus services are also available from Southampton.
Among Mercury’s excellent facilities are a well-stocked chandlery as well as a bar and restaurant.
After months of viewings and several sea trials purely sailing has chosen the Hanse 455 as its ideal partner. Hanse are known for building superbly strong well balanced yachts.
She is the perfect cruising yacht, fast yet easy and safe to sail in any weather. The cockpit is large enough to be comfortable for up to 6 guests. She has been designed for short-handed sailing so guests can decide how much or how little they want to get involved. Likewise the self-tacking jib allows even the least experienced sailor to tack the yacht with ease and confidence.
Below decks she provides a superb level of comfort and space for up to 8 persons. Large cabins and excellent seating in a light airy saloon allows you to relax after the sailing.
Build #142 is due for delivery in June of this year. We will keep you updated with progress.
